Republican State Representative Kip Smith was arrested in Atlanta recently for driving under the influence ( DUI ). Atlanta DUI officer Kramer observed Smith's gold Jaguar XJ8 run a red light and initiated a traffic stop. Upon speaking to Smith, Officer Kramer noticed that Smith smelled of alcohol. Smith, first denied drinking alcohol, but later changed his answer and said he had a beer prior to driving. Representative Smith consented to field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. According to reports, Smith took the breath test and tested over the legal limit for a driver over 21. He was charged with three offense - two charges for DUI and one for failure to obey a traffic control device. He is out on bond and awaiting an arraignment date.
